Lysekoid Headquarters History
This page is done in memory to all those megaman fans that were in one way or another part of the megaman community since 1998, and had some of their splendid sprites displayed at lysekoid headquarters or were in some way known to me.
1998-09-20 - 1999-03-25 : This was the first Megaman homepage that I made by the name Lysekoid Headquarters. It was a huge sprite collection with 1030 sprites at that time, and where my own Lysekoid sprite saw its first light. Many talented spriters held their sprite on this page, and some of them were absolutely beautiful. Although you must remember that full custom sprites were extremely rare at this point and most sprites were still recolorizations of original sprites like Bass, Megaman or Zero. I'd like to mention at least a few names that I believe are worth mentioning from those times, and they are:
Mega Boy, Pixel Boy, SIVAK, Deepblade, Dark Napalm, Tienchii, MegamanXTreme, Tenji, Lyric, Wolfsbane, Death Blade, Cycloneman, Zero X Gold, and Warrior X Zero.
1999-03-25 - 1999-06-04 : Lysekoid Headquarters grew in the number of visitors and the amount of sprites by the day. It had already reached a few thousand sprites and over 10.000 visitors. I also had a game in development called Megaman Galaxy. Once again I'd like to mention a few names that I believe are worth mentioning:
Mega Boy, Pixel Boy, SIVAK, Deepblade, Dark Napalm, Death Angel, Tienchii, MegamanXTreme, Tenji, Lyric, Wolfsbane, Death Blade, Zakuriu, Cycloneman, WZX, Galaxian Z, Proto X, Axis-Y, and Egoraptor.
1999-06-04 - 1999-10-31 : Lysekoid Headquarters continued on, collecting more and more sprites both custom and original. It also reached 100.000 visitors. The new design of the homepage was based upon a screenshot showing a jungle area from one of Megaman X's new games, if I'm not mistaken. I was now also a member of the MMX:AU staff at TAU, creating sprite animations. Three people continued on working on Lysekoid Headquarters with me, and those people were:
Death Blade, Cycloneman, WZX, and Proto X. The Great Sprite Contest - GSC2 was also going on during this time, and many people were participating. Me and Deepblade just to mention a few, and both of us created some very cool mavericks. Sabbre (today known as Grenzenlos) made me a very nice banner. And Gauntlet started helping me out with rare Megaman sprites and other such contributions. Some important names at this time were:
Sabbre, Deepblade, Auto, Tengu Man, Dragon, Heatman, Lyric, MegamanXTreme, Sivak, Tenji, Threat, Tienchii, Wolfsbane, Galaxian Z, Zakuriu, and Death Strike.
1999-10-31 - 1999-12-31 : Winter was approaching and Lysekoid Headquarters continued on. By this time we had a brand new staff, working very hard to make this a very attractive homepage. These staff members were:
Me (Lysekoid of course), Gauntlet, Zephiroth X, Anorok Narra, and Threat.
I was now also the MMX:AU Spriting Department Head, doing tons of sprites for the whole MMX:AU and other people. We at Lysekoid Headquarters also started to have (what came to be very popular) a Sprite Judgement page, were people sent in their custom made sprites and we judged them as fairly as possible, explaining what could have been done to improve them, if it was needed that it. Dragon was one of the many spriters sending in his work for judgement. Gauntlet mainly collected rare Megaman stuff and Zephiroth X worked on things like the link section.
1999-12-31 - 2000-03-11 : New year was almost upon us, and Heatman's Sprite Collection of original Megaman sprites was fast becoming the most complete collection within the whole Megaman society. Auto was also contributing to the Megaman Society with his enormous skills as a spriter. He had nearly redone all original Megaman sprites into his own 16-bit format. Megaman X Treme's page was also growing fast in popularity, as was Jevor Extreme's, Entity's, and of course Zephiroth X's. At MMX:AU, Sabbre had launched his NewsBeat section.
He was also the Audiovisual Officer, and I worked for him as the Sprite Officer. Dr. Vaitso was the Chief Executive Officer, Farenheit was the General Manager, Cryo Mantis was the Events Officer, Taion was the Hosting Officer and Gemini Man was the Publications Officer. At Lysekoid Headquarters Zephiroth X held a X Battle section. Threat stood for the fanfic section and Gauntlet still collected rare stuff. The Sprite Judgement page was still very popular.
2000-03-11 - 2000-05-18 : Zephiroth X, Threat, Gauntlet, Anorok Narra, WZX and Dragon were still members of the staff, but now even Sabbre joined. Ever since I became a MMX:AU staff member, Sabbre has been giving me sprite assignments, and then rating and commenting my working, making me redo those things that were not good enough. By doing this, Sabbre has helped me to evolve as a spriter more then a little, and for that I am most grateful. I kept working on sprites for the MMX:AU (working for Sabbre mostly), and the Sprite Judgement was on full roll with spriters like: Maxamor, Hell Warrior, and Zephiroth X, sending in their work. Threat ran a Poll on the site. WZX had a midi section, and Dragon was making custom sprites. The GSC2 contest was over and HellFireOZ won the Bonus Category with her stunning sprite of Byte, while I
came second with my Sigma sprite, and Deepblade came third with his Sigma sprite.
2000-05-18 - 2000-06-16 : The page kept on evolving! Unfortunately Zephiroth X left us, wanting to continue working on his own, and I whished him the best of luck. His spritesheets could still be viewed at Lysekoid Headquarters. Threat was the second staff member to leave us. Gauntlet kept hunting for rare original sprites and pictures. He would soon become one of the more productive staff members, contributing with quite a lot. Entity kept handling the midi section, while the rest of us continued judging sprites for the Sprite Judgement page. Shortly we received another staff member by the name Robot Cowboy, who by
my own opinion is one of the very best sprites I've ever known. I know that both me and Zephiroth X are good spriters, but the skills of Robot Cowboy were incredible. Some of the talented spriters at the Sprite Judgement page at this time were:
Dragon, Gigaman, Y2J Chris, Xavier, Maxamor, Tonberi, Zakuriu, NEH Novall and Alto.
2000-06-16 - 2000-10-17 : After a while, I changed the way Lysekoid Headquarters looked once more. But this time I even renamed it, into Megaland. I made a map too, which wasn't really that good, but I liked it at the time. The staff of Megaland consisted of only four member: Both me and Robot Cowboy acted as spriters, Sabbre was my sprite adviser, and Gauntlet as the rarity hunter. Sabbre sent me new pictures made by Wire Scorpion, which I made into sprites. Some popular Megaman-related homepages that time were:
Xardion's, Protoman's, Magma Dragoon's, Fireman's, Entity's, Megaman Xtreme's and Death Angel's. Zephiroth X was working hard on his page and his sprites. Heatman's sprite collection was still the largest and most complete on the net, and Auto's custom spritepage was still very popular. Most of these fabulous pages were
in one way or another connected to TAU, which was like the centre of the whole Megaman society.
2000-10-17 - 2001-09-11 : Megaland was closed during this period. The page itself was still available on the net although I did not have the time to work with it. Just to mention a few popular sites:
X-Team ran by Lyric, and Engine of Destruction ran by Dark Napalm, Moo-Moo Chan, and Xeta Psilon.
2001-09-11 - 2002-11-11 : After a long time of being away, I was finally back and started working anew on Megaland. On my staff it was only Gauntlet and I left, and I must add that he did a splendid work. He contributed with tons of interesting and rare Megaman items, which made the page once more popular. TGD joined us shortly thereafter. The Sprite Judgement started again, and many spriters came to have their sprites rated. Some of the more visited Megaman homepages from this period were:
Mechanical Maniacs, Viral Infection, Sky Lagoon - the Amazing X-force, Sinister Six, Iragination, MegaMan Central, Retrofaction, MegaMan Masters, Fanewgie's Submarine, Rockman Dash, and Zephirothx's Shadow Cavern. The MegaMan Homepage was still frequently visited, (and even though I haven't mentioned it until now) it was most likely one of the first Megaman homepages ever created.
Auto's Sprite Gallery and Heatman's Page was just as good as always, and TAU - The Alternate Universe was still the centre of the whole Megaman community (by my own opinion).
2002-11-11 - 2003-09-01 : Megaland was remade shortly after that I created the page for GSC3, and made them both similar in design. Khimari helped me out for a while, but then he left. Sabbre had changed his name to Grenzenlos, and the MMX:AU that first changed name to TAU, now was named simply MM:AU - The Alternate Universe. I was assigned head of the GSC3, but sadly enough it never reach a popularity as high as the previous GSC2 had a few years ago. Spriting wasn't as popular anymore I guess. Here are some Megaman related homepages that were popular right now:
The Megaman Homepage, Auto's Sprite Gallery, Retrofaction, Rockman Dash, and Sprite Inc. The Veomeshed forum had become extremely popular too, and I did a lot of new sprite work for its members.
2003-09-01 - 2004-08-18 : I joined a forum by the name of Veomeshed, where Grenzenlos and Zoberras were working on a new RPG. Unfortunately the server went down after some time, so Grenzenlos, Zoberraz and the rest of the staff, had to move their new created world to a new server and by doing so renaming their world from Veomeshed to New Horizon. I'm further evolving my character Lysekoid on New Horizon along with many other Megaman fans. As for Megaland, it got redesigned once again, and the name changed to Megaman Era - Lysekoid Headquarters. Some of the most popular Megaman sites right now are:
MM:AU - The Alternate Universe, Planet Megaman, The Megaman Homepage, Retrofaction, and Megaman Dash.
2004-08-18 : The New Horizon forum went on, its world had just a few days ago been completed and the registration had started. The New Horizon RPG had become extremely large, now after more than one year of hard work and there existed no other Mega Man RPG on the Internet that even got close to its size or potential. My character Lysekoid was evolving and had by now reached level 13. Other character's in the RPG right now were: Sucher, Silhouette, Ember, Kaila, Hornet, Enygma, Alto, Peacemaker, Mace, Glimpse, etc. Michal Lysek (Lysekoid), Ian Stewart (Grenzenlos), Frederick Durand (Zoberraz), James Dies (SilverLimit), Adam Anana (Farenheit5), Eric Zhao Ou (Eriance), Tobias Persson, and Joakim Mansson continued developing their Mega Man fangame called Mega Man - New Horizon.
Michal sugested to Ian and Frederick they should start this project back in summer of 2003. Michal and Tobias Persson started developing a game engine (API) for Gameboy Advance in January 2004.
2005-12-01 : The forum RPG called Mega Man New Horizon has existed for almost 2,5 years now, while lead and maintained by Grenzenlos and Zoberraz. Zoberraz worked on a new levelling system, creating everything from core traits to general skills. The world expanded and grew to something truly unique and wonderful, something players truly enjoyed... not least of all Lysekoid. At the end of 2005 Zoberraz decided to drop out and Grenzenlos announced that he would no longer maintain the forum. The 4th Great Sprite Contest lasted from the end of 2004 until the end of 2005. Mega Man: Alternate Universe has been around in one for or another since 1997, when it began its life as a rather strange little web-site most known at the time for not being made of Clip Art and sprites, like so many other Mega Man sites were, at the time. Recently, MMAU focused on brining a different sort of experience to
the viewers than those found at the media extravaganza sister sites like their own hosts Planet Mega Man, or Neighbors, the Mega Man Network. Only a day ago, Grenzenlos announced that MMAU is closing down for good, and would be no more... we are witnessing the end of an era in the megaman dynasty.
Zoberraz quit the Mega Man New Horizon forum RPG at the end of 2005, and Grenzenlos followed thereafter. It was then decided that other people would try to keep the forum alive, and the Rplayer volunteered for the task. However, the Rplayer fail after trying to make it work for several months. In July 2006 the RPG was dead yet again, but just a month later a new team of people decided on bringing the forum RPG back to life, and even Zoberraz came back to give them a few pointers. Who knows, maybe these people will succeed with what the Rplayer didn't manage to do.
2006-08-14 After the A.U.D. Studios (the team developing the Mega Man New Horizon game for Gameboy Advance) had developed their first three small demos they had enough strength to create a forth and much bigger demo. The game engine had grown to handle a whole game stage and a lot of music, graphics, and story had been created. On August 14th 2006, the team released their (fourth demo) first official game demo and made the project public hoping that other people would like it as well. A lot of hard work and effort was invested since 2003/2004 to pull this off.
